Well, where in the WORLD did time go? My youngest son Javan is turning 10! It’s hard to believe that it was a decade ago when I got to sport the scrubs and head into the operating room at St. Joseph West in Lake Saint Louis where my incredibly brave wife endured the delivery of our 2nd son via C-Section. I’ll never forget the tears of joy that ran down my face THE MOMENT I heard the wimpers of his first cry as the doctors held him up and said to Missy and I ‘you gotta healthy boy here’!
That was May 22, 2002 and it’s a day I met one incredible guy – Javan Kale Quiroz…and it seems that each year with him flies by faster than the one before. However, the memories we have picked up along the way of this amazing boy’s life are something I treasure more than anything.
Just looking at these pics bring feelings of tremendous pride of the family that God has given me and the experiences that I have had with my sons are so fulfilling that it would take a few lengthy blog attempts to even begin to describe what that feeling of fulfillment actually feels like. He’s been an OUTSTANDING son…and I love what I have with him…and the experiences I have been able to share with him as a father over the last 10 years of his life, as a pastor sharing ministry with him over in Arizona, Ohio, and here in Missouri, and lastly as a simply fan of his life – cheering him on to the future that God has for him…I LOVE THIS GUY!
In closing this little birthday blog – I just want to throw a BIG HAPPY 10TH to one of the greatest people in my life!
HBD JKQ! Here’s to another decade of great memories to come!

I am so READY to begin this series of talks @ Journey! This entire series was inspired by a moment I was having watching the Discovery Channel a several weeks ago. It was a show about the frozen north and south ends of our planet and they did a segment on penguins and the nature of their life – and I gotta tell you – before the show ended, I had a pen and pad with a ton of notes about the similarities we have in our lives with our relationship with God! It was CRAZY!
Anyways – this is set to be a very powerful time together @ Journey and we encourage you to experience it with us…you’ll be glad you did. Saturdays @ 5P & Sundays @ 9A & 11A!

Back in the youth pastor days of my life – there was a song that we sung literally EVERY week by Chris Tomlin (you know, the modern day father of all worship music) called ‘We Fall Down’ wherein the song attempts to paint a picture of Revelation 4 where humanity sees the amazing glory and power of God’s throne in heaven and all they can do in response to this sight is fall off of the thrones God made for them and worship Him…all humanity can do is take the rewarding crowns that God created to be placed on their heads and toss them before God’s throne…as if to say – GOD, YOU ARE THE DEFINITION OF ROYALTY HERE, not me…YOU DESERVE IT ALL!
Wow, I cannot wait to experience Heaven, and the opportunity to do the same as those did in Revelation 4. This past Sunday, we talked about that very thing and the best way we could illustrate it was to order 600 Burger King Crowns (BTW – THANK YOU BK!) and toss them in a rehearsal-like mindset to give us a picture of what it will be like on that great day when we finally arrive at Heaven’s Golden Gates!
It was a great service experience and just wanted to share it with you. (Here some pics of that service)
Very cool!
Oh yeah, here’s that Chris Tomlin song I was talking about:
Much love!

We are gearing up for an INCREDIBLE series of talks @ Journey called ‘I Am Legend’ and we couldn’t be more excited about it! These talks will be heavily illustrated and doused with humor and an in depth understanding of what Journey Church is all about (you know, why we exist and all that stuff). It all goes down this weekend, so choose your service experience as we are beginning our Saturday Night Service this weekend beginning @ 5PM and we will see you there! Here’s a promo vid for this weekend’s series:
Also, did you know how cool your life can become JUST by attending Journey on a Saturday Night?

Wow! We are literally walking into what will be ONE AMAZING weekend at Journey Church. We anticipate a record setting weekend as we expect around 1,000 people to converge on the campus of Journey this weekend to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We have opened up 5 service experiences for our community and here they are:
It’s a weekend that is holding an opportunity for you to make a memory with God that you will literally never forget. We have never put more preparation into a weekend at our church than we have for what will begin to take place this weekend…it’s going to be EPIC. We can’t WAIT to see you there!

I absolutely LOVE serving in the church…being a pastor is an opportunity be a part of the life change that God installs into ppl…and that is an overwhelming honor. I recently read a blog online by one of our members (pictured above) named Kenny. It was so incredible, I had to share it with the folks @ Journey (hence the picture above)…it was so encouraging (I mean, this stuff is what puts fuel in my tank man!) he got a standing ovation after I read it. Anyways, I thought it would be something you would greatly enjoy as well, here’s the link: https://speshulkm.wordpress.com/2012/03/28/journey-church-what-a-sorry-bunch/

Well…I’m gonna go Reality TV on you in this blog (which of course you may or not know of which I AM A HUGE FAN). This video (below) of Britain’s Got Talent is going viral at an insane pace much like the Susan Boyle video did a couple of years ago. This time, the star is a 17 year old young man named Jonathan. Just when you think we have learned the time honored principle of Matthew 7 ‘Do not judge’, we are brought back to a stiff reminder of the importance of living that out…as ppl we often disqualify concerning their abilities are often the ppl God chooses to use to bring us to moments of inspiration. Wow, it’s amazing how a simple talent show can illustrate this lesson so effectively.
